The year of hardwork

I have years. Meaning, I have special themes for each year. I was struggling to think up a theme for this year. Somehow the year of grace, or gratefulness, or even perseverance, made sense and yet were not getting it right.  They had the right Christian sense to it, but they just did not capture the situation I was in, and the direction I wanted to go.

My year themes are a personal effort to do something, learn something, try something. And this year, I really want to try, learn about, and improve on, hard work.

I say this after another “escape” where I have spent, even wasted time, watching another movie.

I love movies. But I think I’m addicted to the escape of movies.

I have so much work, but I’d rather be watching movies, or doing something “fun” rather than working.  (I have the same feeling about relationships/people… which I would love to avoid – escape from, but that’s another story).

So, the year of hardwork… a year where I attempt to become something more than what I am. I hope to learn from others… and hopefully practice it.

(honestly, I really need it – hardwork – as I try to finish my dissertation this year… so maybe, this is a positive kick in the right direction?)

Passage for this Season

Philippians 2:11-13 (NIV) (12)Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, (13)for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
